Christmas is Over

Christmas has been over for almost two weeks, but it seems to just now be hitting me. The Christmas lights are fading and the trees are being taken down. I hadn't taken any pictures of our Christmas decorations (which is very unlike me) so I took up my camera and snapped a few pictures.
It seems sad that Christmas is gone and another year has passed. But another year has come, to pack all our feelings and memories into. It's strange to think that 2018 is here when I remember thinking 2017 so far away. I can remember thinking a year was so long, and now they go like that (snap!).

Remembering Summer

Don't get me wrong, I love Winter. Pure white snow, black trees against a pale sky, crystal icicles, the way you can see your breath on a cold night. But sometimes, when it's cold and you're surrounded by snow, you just want to remember the hot summer days - full of color and sunlight.
Running through the sprinklers, digging in the dirt, fresh vegetables in the garden and the perpetual list of things needing to be planted.
This last summer we planted Zinnias for the first time. They took over a month to bloom, I was very impatient, but the results were wonderful. There was a plethora of purples, reds, oranges, and pinks. Bursts of color in a pot on our back porch.
