Remembering Summer

Don't get me wrong, I love Winter. Pure white snow, black trees against a pale sky, crystal icicles, the way you can see your breath on a cold night. But sometimes, when it's cold and you're surrounded by snow, you just want to remember the hot summer days - full of color and sunlight.
Running through the sprinklers, digging in the dirt, fresh vegetables in the garden and the perpetual list of things needing to be planted.
This last summer we planted Zinnias for the first time. They took over a month to bloom, I was very impatient, but the results were wonderful. There was a plethora of purples, reds, oranges, and pinks. Bursts of color in a pot on our back porch.
